Asakusa Chic

His dreads reach his knees.

They are not extensions.

He goes to the hairdresser to get them retouched.

I was too shy to ask, so I took a photo when he wasn't looking.

Shoe fetish

As I was flicking through 'Popeye' magazine I noticed that Onitsunka Tiger has a few new shoes out. My favourite were the 'astroboy' shoes and the 'Faile' series, however for a little of 30, 000 yen they can stay on the shelf. I'd rather just admire them....on other peoples feet!

Polo shirts are doing the rounds again too. Last year they had writing and scribble on them. This time its fat stripes or diamonds (golf anyone!). Rugby tops are also becoming popular in Japan.

Cherry Blossom

I was very excited to see that my bonsai tree has a cherry blossom that is nearly in full bloom this morning. The rest should be out by next week I hope. I'm surprised because I thought it was dead due to aphids from last spring. But it's back!

This week

I have been really busy sewing bags and working the past few weeks which is the reason I have not been making many entries. I have also recently purchased Katheen Fasanella's book 'The Entrepreneur's Guide to Sewn Product Manufacturing', so I've been trying to read that when I can. In addtion to that I will be in Tokyo for a few days (spring vacation time for schools) with my partner, showing their parents the sights. I am hoping to get some great shots of Tokyo for some future T-shirt designs. (hopefully in time for the Design Festa ,but I doubt it!)

My work has been put up on the Design Festa website. It includes previous work sold on ebay so if you get time, take a look. There are also many other artists that are worth checking out too.

Here a photo of a bag that I have finished. I would put up more but I am having trouble uploading.

Bags for online sale

Well I have been busy this week buying material, making bags and thinking and trying to design a hang tag for my bags, when I have my booth at the Design Festa. The only program I have to use is MS WORD! Yup that's all. I do have adobe but it's still on CD as this laptop has no room for any new programs. Lucky though I have my friend Nao who has adobe, so maybe he can help me out.

I have also listed some bags for sale on ebay. Just click on the pictures for the links.

Today I applied and paid for my very tiny booth at the design festa. My space will be 1.8 x .9m or if you’re Japanese, the size of a tatami mat! There was a larger size but it was twice the price. So that means I need to start thinking of ways to get attendees to come to my booth. Being foreign will help!
